FS = Not very “schooly”
I did well on tests and had no problem following the teacher…I just had a problem even SHOWING UP. See, I knew ever since I was 9 years old that I wanted to be a performer. Community Theater, HS Theater, Choral Groups etc, started REAL young. Then at 15 yrs old, I received a guitar for Christmas and a DEFINITELY KNEW that I wanted to be a musician. So like I was saying, I had a problem FOCUSING my energy into homework and busywork, I chose to go practice my guitar and work on writing songs. Made me very popular in the principals office, not so much at home.
I am not advocating skipping school or anything, but I DO THINK that school should be much more ADAPTIVE to students and there “post high school” careers, especially ones that fall outside the typical career paths. Some jobs/careers don’t stem from college and a “Alternate yet Comparable” path should be encouraged. Not bashing teachers or administrators, just the common nomenclature that to be equal in quality, all of out educations must be the same. (Side note, my MOTHER & SISTER are teachers and I went to college to be a teacher…so I dig the profession, its the program that is behind the times) Actually it’s that and…
